Get a Secret Ability in Racket Rivals
Learn the difference between Spirit abilities and secret Awakenings, where each comes from, and how to use an Awakening well.
What “Secret Ability” Can Mean
Racket Rivals has both Spirits and Awakenings. A Spirit gives you an ability to use during a match. A secret Awakening is a separate match power. Decide which one you are trying to get before you spend packs or spins; they use different systems.
If you want a Spirit ability, open either the Standard Pack or the Spirits Only Pack. The Spirits overview describes the Standard Pack as containing Spirits alongside rackets and emotes, while the Spirits Only Pack is focused on Spirits. Choose the second pack when you want your opening to target Spirits rather than the mixed pool.
How a Secret Awakening Works
An Awakening is charged during a match rather than used like a regular ability cooldown. Keep rallies alive, make saves, and land ability hits to build toward it. The secret Awakening guide identifies rallies, saves, and ability hits as ways to charge the meter.
Once the Awakening is ready, wait for a moment when it can change the rally. Activating just after an opponent commits to a direction or spends their own Awakening can make the timing harder to answer. Coordinate with teammates so two players do not spend their powers at the same moment; staggering them gives your team another threat later in the match.
A Practical Match Plan
- Use regular abilities when they have a clear target, especially when an opponent is committed to a return.
- Keep clean contact during rallies instead of swinging repeatedly without a good read. Missed swings do not help your team keep pressure.
- Watch your Awakening meter and communicate when it is ready.
- Save the activation for a committed attack, an important save, or a late rally where it can disrupt the opponent’s plan.
- If a teammate already has an Awakening ready, stagger activations instead of overlapping them.
An Awakening is not a replacement for positioning. A good activation can create an opening, but your team still needs to cover the court and return the shuttle. Do not assume every secret power charges at the same rate or has the same effect; check the selected Champion’s Awakening before planning a play.
Quick Answers
Do Spirits and Awakenings come from the same pack?
The listed Spirit routes are the Standard Pack and Spirits Only Pack. Awakenings are described as a separate match power charged through play.
What is the Spirits Only Pack for?
It focuses on Spirits, which give players abilities for a match. Use it when you want to target Spirits rather than the mixed Standard Pack.
When should I activate a secret Awakening?
Use it after an opponent commits to a direction or spends an Awakening, or during an important rally. Coordinate with teammates so your powers are staggered.
